Our Purpose and Organization
Canyon Highway District No. 4 (CHD4) is one of four Highway Districts in Canyon County. Canyon Highway District boundaries primarily include the Northeastern area of Canyon County, surrounding Caldwell and Middleton. Canyon Highway District was formed in 1981 to maintain public rights-of-way, roads, and bridges in the highway system, within the District's boundaries, excluding state highways and cities.
The Highway District is a political subdivision of the State of Idaho and, according to state law, functions like a corporation. It is a special-purpose district and is not part of the state, city or county governments.

Effective August 22, 2022
CHD4 will begin collecting development impact fees for the Mid-Star Service Area with all access permits issued for new residential, commercial, or industrial development. This includes the unincorporated areas around Middleton and Star lying north of the Boise River, and a small area north of Lincoln Road within one mile from Middleton Road.

Canyon Highway District No. 4 (CHD4) is seeking qualified applicants to complement the Road Crew and Engineering Department in planning, design, and construction of transportation projects, and assist with management of development entitlements and infrastructure.

Current Job Openings:
Job Application (Required for all positions)
Duties include operating trucks used in road, pipe, and bridge maintenance. Have knowledge of snow removal equipment. Work with road, bridge, and herbicide crews or as assigned. Requires a Class A CDL.
Salary Range: $22.39 - $26.11 /hr
Herbicide Applicator/Equipment Operator
Duties include operating spray equipment and machinery in the application of various herbicides on public road sites, ensure the safe application of all weed control measures, and operate various types of construction equipment, trucks, or other duties as assigned.
Salary Range: $24.18 - $28.20
Senior Assistant District Engineer
B.S. in Civil Engineering or related engineering discipline with 7+ years experience. P.E. certification required.
Primary Duties: Planning, design and construction oversight of capital projects; leads development and maintenance of long- and mid-range transportation plans; and administration of impact fee programs.
Salary Range: $40.49 - $59.50 /hr
